From the Director

Dear Family Promise partners and members of the Shawnee community,

On behalf of Family Promise of Shawnee, I am thrilled to announce that our Board of Directors has hired Pastor David Henry as our Interim Executive Director. Pastor Henry serves as Senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Shawnee, a congregation with a long, faithful history as a host congregation with Family Promise. He is also a former President of our Board, with a proven track record of non-profit leadership throughout the Shawnee community.

I know David to be a dear brother in Christ and a committed Christian leader, with a heart for God and for all people, especially the homeless families God calls us to serve through Family Promise.

The terms of his agreement with us are for 90 days, with an option to extend the interim period by mutual consent if that proves to be in the interest of our ministry. He has hit the ground running. He is already meeting with our staff and expects to be in the office for much of next week. I know that he is eager to work with all of you. After our Board meeting next week, he will be in touch with you directly about some of our goals for the interim period and ways that our congregations can cooperate in the work that God has set before us.

Please join me in welcoming David to his new ministry among us. If you should need to reach him directly, his email is director.fpshawnee@gmail.com

God bless Family Promise and all those he calls us to serve.

Grace and peace,

Bill+

Who We Serve

Family Promise of Shawnee serves homeless families consisting of couples with at least one child, single mothers or fathers with at least one child, and women who are pregnant. We do not serve those with active drug or alcohol addiction, severe mental illness, violent criminal records, or those seeking shelter from domestic violence. We do serve as a referral source and refer families to appropriate agencies for other assistance programs.

Since inception, we have assisted over 10,000 individuals with our "in-network" and "out-of-network" services. In 2015, Family Promise assisted 512 individuals with 21 families that entered into our program and graduated with permanent housing and job placement.
